Close to a thousand people attended the launching ceremony of the SDP on Sunday, 26th Jan 2003. Project brochures were distributed at the registration desks. Rounds of reminiscing among the old boys, the Fathers and the retired teachers were witnessed all over the campus as expected. The shool hall was packed when Mr. Raymond Tsang made a slick PowerPoint presentation that effectively explained the background and other aspects of the Project . The moving speeches of Dr. Patrick Wu (PSA) and Mrs. Susanna Lai (PTA) were interestingly made from very different angles, of an old boy and of a parent respectively. Emotions were high when old boy Mr. Stephen Yow presented his donation cheque of HK$5 million to Fr. Deignan who continued to make a short speech of appeal that touched everyone in the audience. Mr. George Tam concluded by sharing his views on the needs for redeveloping Wah Yan. As the Principal and a veteran who had 'lived' the history of Wah Yan in the past 30 years, his words were prompting many to draw their cheque books!
