16th Wah Yan Football League Finale & Prize Presentation Ceremony

Jin 4 & 281 (03), the only team with players from both WYHK and WYK, has been leading the match by 1 ĘC 0 most of the time and it was unfortunate that during the dying minutes their goalie hit the bottom of a corner kick ball causing it to slip into the net. Whirlwind FC (09) thus equalized. However, the destiny stayed with the former team during the penalty shoot out and they became the 2nd runners up.

FATX (04) dominated the match with New Star (08) and they missed a number of chances during regular playing time. The New Star goalie had a few decisive saves to keep clean sheet but his fellow players up front were unable to punish their opponent as they hardly had any shots on target. FATX showed their determination in the penalty kicks and was finally crowned Champion.

Champion - FATX (04)
1st Runners Up - New Star (08)
2nd Runners Up - Jin 4 & 281 (03)
4th - Whirlwind FC (09)

In the Elite round which ended earlier, the finalists were more familiar:-

Champion - Shooting Cannon (05)
1st Runners Up - Y900 (99)
2nd Runners Up - Da Dui (88)
4th - Happy Soccer (92)

The top scorer award went to Chiu Chun Ngon from New Star (08) who scored 6 goals in the entire tournament.

The prize presentation ceremony was officiated by WYK Principal Warren Chung, WYHK Principal Dr. Y. L. So, WYKPSA Chairman Raymond Chow and WYHKPSA Vice President Silas Chan. At the beginning of the ceremony, Silas Chan presented a cheque to Principal Chung for the share of total surplus WYHKPSA has been allocated during the 13th, 14th and 15th Football League which we would like to give it back to WYK for their football pitch maintenance fund. We have committed to do the same for our share of surplus for the 16th Football League and all future Football League tournaments. Principal Chung is happy to see alumni from both Wah Yans supporting the Football League all these years and he would like the tournament to go on and on, just as what the players and the organizers wish. Principal So is delighted that the Football League has created a good platform for alumni not only to meet but also to have good memories when they get older. He said, "Competition is to fight for no. 1 and friendship is beyond being no. 1".
