Chairman's Message
The forthcoming bi-annual Wah Yan International Conference will be held on November 15 & 16, 2008 in Hong Kong. As Chairman of the Organising Committee, I urge you to mark it down in your diary and make timely preparation to attend, wherever you are around the world. Furthermore, make haste to contact your Wah Yan friends and converge in Hong Kong for a memorable gathering.
Being held in Hong Kong, IC-2008 takes on special significance because one returns to the alma mater and found oneself in the midst of many more a boyhood friend and beloved teacher. It is not a chance to be missed. For those who have lived afar for a long time, take the chance to visit Mainland China and note the progress it is making. Your hosts are arranging many entertainment programs to cater to every desire. Let us know how you want to celebrate the occasion. Come and spend some good times with old boys of Wah Yan.
As one who has left school for nearly 40 years, I can testify how boyhood friends from Wah Yan are becoming more and more endearing. I am sure my own classmates would corroborate this by virtue of our daily correspondence over the Internet connecting over 50 around the world We are re-bonding with one another once again base on who were in the past, but renewing friendships on who we are today. Who we are today is not what we are today, but that we share a common bond with one another in the past that left an indelible mark in the abyss of our hearts. This mark of love and devoted service moulded each of us in our lives that we all know and consciously share. The IC-2008 is a great opportunity to show express our gratitude to our many Reverend Fathers and dedicated teachers who have given us the marvellous gift. We know thus enriched, each of us could and would be prepared to serve wherever we are and whenever there is a chance.
Bonding Forever has been the central theme of International Conferences. This time, IC-2008 is keen to capitalise on the opportunity to foster bonding of old boys from different professions and fields of expertise so that their specific energies could be beneficially channelled to meet various special needs of the schools and the world around us. Needless to say, it is in giving that we receive. Regardless of whether we are converted to Catholicism by Wah Yan, we share the Christian value and mission of devoted humble charitable service that brings hope to the people around us in the world.
Wherever you are, don't miss the chance to meet at ICE2008 in Hong Kong.
